Marius Oberholster Hey! I'm having an incredible learning experience, not only learning how Blender works (yes, still learning), but also about Open-Source and the incredible software available. Stick around!

Workflow - Node Groups

Posted by Marius Oberholster on Monday, March 27, 2017 Under: Tutorials
Hey all!

About a week ago, I got some comment on YouTube from a user called: CNR Games. He was very excited about the Node Groups I was using in the Compositing: Toon Shading with Soft Shadows tutorial. As many of you know, Node Groups are a way of putting together sets of nodes that just make your setup look cleaner and function better. You could say it is a form of logic visual programming.

Anyway, in my projects, I usually use a very specific set of nodes that I use in pretty much every render, and they are:
- Quick Vignette
- Quick Blur

While these effects you'd think would be obvious to make, they are not obvious to everyone, as everyone's minds process information a little differently than the next person. That means, for some it will be more intuitive than others and other things will in turn be more intuitive to them than for me, for example.

Shortly after getting the comments, I wanted to do a video on it, but didn't get the blessing from the HOLY SPIRIT to do so until the day after I replied. When I did I was ecstatic, because I hadn't done a full on tutorial since the candle flame and pick-up object tip videos! The vlogs and Exodus keep me very occupied! hahaha. You've probably also noticed that the music stopped since Christmas last year. Same reason.

Just to make sure I give credit where it's due: The basic method for this comes from Andrew Price's tutorials. He uses vignette probably the most in the Blender Community and at just the right amount. I learned this method from his videos and GOD lead me to apply it for the quick blur as well.

So, without further delay, today I am super thrilled to give you a video on this:

GOD is super gracious!!!!

I really hope this blessed you just like a birthday present, because it sure blessed me to be able to make it!!!

Biggest thanx to GOD for helping me with this. Without HIM, none of this would be possible! :D

Know JESUS yet?

Thank YOU!!!!!!
