About Me

Marius Oberholster Hey! I'm having an incredible learning experience, not only learning how Blender works (yes, still learning), but also about Open-Source and the incredible software available. Stick around!

If you can sing, take proper care of your voice

March 20, 2012
This was quite a scary morning. I really luv to sing and enjoy recording and I've even sung for family and it's great, but I've noticed when singing certain types of music (that I really enjoy doing) pushes my voice extremely hard and it gets super tired super fast. The danger is that if I don't listen to HIS guidance on when to be quiet and let it rest, I run the risk of losing my voice before HE even gets the chance to use it full on. It's a frightening prospect for any vocalist and person who does sing...

I've improved a lot and I've learned a lot since my first video on YouTube. But the thought of not being able to sing at all, even holding a note, isn't something I want to face and I don't wish it on anyone, so I'm gonna pray for everyone who sings, right now:

FATHER, I thank YOU for the gift of song and music. What a pleasure! I read some hard things this morning and I'm very glad YOU showed me what could happen if I didn't go on rest when YOU tell me to. It's truly not something I want anyone to face, but so many do, especially coaches (as mentioned in the article), so FATHER I am asking YOU now to bring restoration to every voice lost due to miss-use and I ask that they'd not only use it right this time around, but that they would glorify YOU endlessly!
Finally I'm also asking YOU to turn the entertainment industry (specifically now the music industry), that it would turn to YOU and be what YOU want it to be; a blessing to this earth and a vessel fit for YOUR use!
In JESUS' Name!
Amen!

Now remember what is written above, there is nothing to fear if you handle it responsibly. HE tells me quite often that I've sung enough, it's time to now let my voice get some rest, because really it's HIS voice. Follow good advice concerning your voice and pray over it and I believe HE will guard it.

A proof of concept taste for mountains

March 16, 2012
Here's another little something I'm including in the book (calling it that, since it covers all the educational terms that can be used in relation to the project).

And yes, all created with procedural textures and Blender features. The mountain was generated using the Landscape add-on. The mountain's snow was done using only procedural textures. Wanna know how? Wait for the book (^^,)
