Marius Oberholster Hey! I'm having an incredible learning experience, not only learning how Blender works (yes, still learning), but also about Open-Source and the incredible software available. Stick around!

Finished eagle! Well, almost

August 26, 2014
Hey all!

Wow! We're really getting quite a few posts this week, hahaha. Okay, so, yesterday I showed you guys a progress on the eagle here and the eagle's materials almost done on the portfolio blog at this post. Now, you get to see it rigged to a useful part (except for the beak):

(made for Cross Allegiance - see more here)

I really like this image, because it was extremely difficult to make, but GOD helped me, but secondly, because it turned out to be a serious image and not cute (which it was initially, hahaha).

Basics on the image:
- Trees are individuals consisting of 4 interlocking pictures (most unique) (leaves were also procedural)
- Mountains are done with the landscape generator and procedural textures
- Mist was created using the Z-pass in the compositor
- Eagle was rigged with a lot of bones and moves almost 100%, except for the beak, which I still need to get to.
- Eagle consists of mostly procedural textures. Only area dividers (beak and claws) were drawn in inkscape. The textures on the wings are procedural.

Anyhow, I hope this images blesses you and encourages you to try new things in 3D! Remember, this image started out like this:

Have a great one!!

Thank YOU!!!!!

PS, I really encourage you to watch this video - it really inspired me and I hope it does you too!

Progress a white eagle

August 25, 2014
Hey all!

So, after the unction didn't go away after a few hours, I finally messaged him and he was incredibly kind and generous, however he could not give me pe...

A few tips on Freestyle rendering

August 19, 2014
Hey all!

Firstly, thanx to all those who visit regularly. I hope you find the information here useful!

Anyway, getting on today's post; Freestyle! :D

Just to show you I know a little about it, I put together a collage of renders:

Freestyle, as you all know, is that feature (now in Cycles too), that allows you to add outlines to 3D shapes, like cartoons.

I've been working with freestyle for a while now and have it to the point, where I just adjust line thickness and then that's it, so, today, I wan...

An earthquake

August 5, 2014
Hey all!

Long time no post, but today I don't come with a work in progress, but as one making an appeal.

Today I felt an earthquake for the first time. I'm not one to feel these all the time, as we live in a nation that is largely free of such things. Mining areas apparently have more, which is understandable, but earthquakes are much more than just a thing that occurs.

They are:
- A sign of GOD's power (Hebrews 12:26)
- Nature's travailing in waiting for the Sons of GOD to be revealed (Romans 8:1...
